SCOPE OF STATISTISTICS
The course is designed to cover modern statistical theory and methods providing a good foundation for research in statistics and for a professional career in statistical applications as well. The course provides opportunity to develop skills for data analysis using modern computing facilities. The course is structured such that a student can specialized in at least three specific areas of statistical applications .the individual project work provides field experience and hands of training.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

  • There are opportunities for the postgraduate in statistics.
  • The research word a student may take up research work.
  • It is very much useful to take up INDIAN STATISTICAL SERVICE (ISS) and INDIAN ECONOMICAL SERVICE. (IES)  examinations for the purpose of data analysis
  • Many industries and software companies are looking for Post graduate students thus a student may get an Opportunity

ELIGIBILITY
A candidate who has passed B.sc Degree examination with statistics and Mathematics as optional subjects securing a minimum of 50% in the subject of statistics and a minimum of 45%  (SC/ST candidates) in the subject of statistics aggregate of Bangalore University or any other University equivalent thereto is eligible

Admission procedure
Admission to the course is decided by the marks obtained in the qualifying examination, followed by personal interview.
