 The therapeutic use of bioactive compounds is as old as human civilization and has evolved along with it.
Natural products as lead compounds in drug discovery are now a newly updated and expanded arena of research. These compounds are extra nutritional constituents that typically occur in small quantities in all living forms. Discovery of bioactive compounds continues to provide new leads against various pharmacological targets. Interest in obtaining biologically active compounds from natural sources has recently spiraled due to their low toxicity, complete biodegradability, availability from renewable sources, and most importantly cost effectiveness. New bioactive molecules are desirable to pharmaceutical companies for their growth and economic viability. Because of the number of bioactive compounds and the diversity of likely biological effects, numerous and diverse experimental approaches must be taken to increase our understanding of their bioefficacy. This conference aims at reviewing the interdisciplinary approach of bioactive compounds from various natural sources with its focus on affordable therapeutics. This platform aims to update, discuss, network and exchange stimulating ideas on the most recent achievements in the field of bioactive compounds in therapeutics.
Jnanarjana 2012, A National Conference on “Bioactive Compounds and Therapeutics” to be conducted on 27th and 28th February 2012, is therefore organized to give the students a first hand comprehensive insight into the field of bioactive compounds and therapeutics from renowned speakers from various backgrounds. This conference is hosted by The P.G. Department of Life Science, The Oxford College of Science, Bangalore.
 Jnana, the knowledge is eternal and grows with sharing. Jnanarjana 2012 aims at empowering students and faculty with the thoughts and knowledge from eminent speakers from the Academia as well as industry. This conference will provide a platform for the young minds to interact and share their views with a more open and free mind so as to develop a better perception about the industrial requirements. The conference is spread over two days – Day 1 will comprise of Keynote address and technical session in the field of bioactive compounds and therapeutics. Day 2 will consist of technical sessions and quiz competition to make the conference more interactive. The star events during both the days would be the technical sessions by eminent speakers from both academia and industry.
We believe that this conference would truly be an excellent opportunity for the participants to imbibe knowledge and take back sweet memories with a more clear and focused mind at the end of the day.
